Winding Ridge Farm
We are located near Springfield, KY atop a "winding ridge". We are family owned and operated where everyone does their part to ensure the farm and animals are managed properly. Our goal is to provide farmers with a trusted source for replacement ewes and rams that are physically sound and healthy, free from contagious diseases or foot problems that so many new farmers acquire.
Pictured below is a group of our replacement ewe lambs at 8 to 9 months of age.
Lambing
We lamb in the Spring, beginning in January and continuing to April. Ewe lambs are ready for sale a few weeks after weaning, which takes place at 60 to 90 days of age (March-May). Rams are allowed to grow out to a fuller frame in order to better determine the most prime lambs of the crop and therefore are available for purchase closer to July.
Livestock Guardians
We utilize Anatolian Shepherd Dogs to protect our flock from predators such as coyotes, foxes and other dogs. Anatolian Shepherds are bred to be pastoral dogs which bond with the flock at an early age and spend their days and nights watching over the sheep.
